Senator rents out his private jet amid economic hardship in Nigeria
In response to the ongoing economic challenges in Nigeria and across West Africa, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has disclosed that he has stopped using his private jet since August 2, 2024. The senator, a former governor of Abia State, stated that the decision to temporarily halt his personal use of the jet was driven by the difficult economic conditions affecting the region.
In a recent statement, Kalu confirmed that he has rented out his private jet to an oil company. Until the economic situation in Nigeria improves, he said he will rely on commercial flights for his travels.
Kalu expressed optimism that the country would resolve its challenges, but did not provide further details on the terms of the jet lease or the duration of the arrangement.
