Oluwakemi Pinheiro, the newly appointed chairman of the governing council of Kaduna State Polytechnic (KADPOLY), has pledged to donate his lifetime salary to support indigent students at the institution

Pinheiro expressed this commitment in a letter dated September 9 and addressed to Suleiman Umar, the rector of the polytechnic.

He said the salary from his position as council chairman will be used to assist indigent students at the polytechnic who need financial aid.

Pinheiro, who also serves as a prosecutor for the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), clarified that he will not accept any sitting or other allowances during his tenure in the polytechnic’s governing council.

To ensure transparency, Pinheiro requested that the institution provide evidence of the disbursement of the funds to his office.

“Allowances for sitting due to me as a chairman of the 8th governing council during my tenure should be utilized for the payment of admission fees or support for the academic fee of any indigent students in my name,” his letter reads in part.

“Evidence of these payments forwarded to me for my records. For the records, I shall not personally collect sitting or allowances during my tenure.”

Suleiman Umar, the rector of Kaduna State Polytechnic, commended Pinheiro for the cause.

He said the gesture will provide much-needed financial relief to many deserving students and contribute to their academic success.
