Fan Milk Plc, a subsidiary of multinational company Danone, opened the production line recently and noted that the investment was born from its commitment to the African market, according to a statement.

The Deputy CEO of Danone, Véronique Penchienati-Bosetta, said: “This investment reaffirms Danone’s long-term commitment to Africa and highlights our belief in the potential for growth in Nigeria’s dairy sector.”

He stated that Danone aimed to enhance production capacity with the line to meet consumers’ needs.

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, represented by Deputy Governor Adebayo Lawal, hailed the development as a boost for the state’s economy.

“This facility underscores Fan Milk Plc and Danone’s dedication to Oyo State’s socio-economic development. It will create numerous job opportunities, stimulate local economic growth, and improve the quality of dairy products available to Nigerians,” the governor stated.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo also praised the project, noting Fan Milk Plc’s investment in the facility showed the crucial role manufacturing plays in Nigeria’s economy.

“It will create jobs, support local economies, and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global dairy market,” Obasanjo remarked.

Fan Milk’s Managing Director, Kayode Adebiyi, said the new production line was a landmark achievement for the company and hoped the new technology would lead to providing consumers with varieties of tastes while adhering to global standards.

The President of Danone Africa, Middle East, and Asia, Christian Stammkoetter, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic development through further investments in the dairy sector.

The French Consul General, Laurent Favier, and representatives from the European Union and the Nigeria Investment Promotion Council attended the event.
