It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that I announce the passing of an extraordinary leader, a dedicated member of our 11th Governing Council, and a shining star in the firmament of public service, Chief (Mrs.) Abosede Adesola Oshunmakinwa , the Iyalaje of Gbongan Land. Her untimely demise on Saturday, August 31st, 2024, after a brief illness, has left an unfillable void in our hearts and a lasting impact on our lives.

As Chairman of the 11th Council, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand her unwavering commitment, unrelenting enthusiasm, and passion for excellence. She embodied the essence of loyalty and dedication, consistently delivering exceptional results with diligence and precision, without the need for supervision.

Her contributions to our council’s success were immense, and her remarkable work ethic, kindness, and generosity of spirit continue to inspire us.

In the words of Samuel Johnson, “The highest tribute to a person is to say they lived a life worthy of remembrance.”

My tribute to Chief (Mrs.) Osunmakinwa is a testament to her remarkable life, legacy, and the indelible mark she left on our lives.

As I received the news of her passing from her son, Tope Osunmakinwa, I was reminded of the phrase,

ā€œHow are the mighty fallen.’

This is indeed one of the saddest moments of my life. Mrs. Osunmakinwa was a luminary, full of life, developmental ideas, energy, compassion and passion. Her exit leaves a void that can never be filled, but her exemplary character will continue to motivate us to strive for excellence.

Rest in peace, dear Chief (Mrs.) Abosede Adesola Oshunmakinwa . Your name, record of impactful deeds, loyalty and legacy will live on in our hearts, and your contributions will forever be remembered as a testament to living a remarkable life.

On behalf of the entire members of the 11th Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Ondo State , her family, friends, and loved ones.

May her memory continue to inspire and motivate all who knew her.

Adieu, and may you continue to rest in the bosom of your creator.

Banji Alabi Esq.
Chairman, 11th Governing Council, Rugipo.”
