265 Secondary Schools In Anambra State Get Zero Funding Under Governor Soludo In 2024 Second Quarter

Areview of the Anambra State 2024 Second Quarter (Q2) budget performance by SaharaReporters has revealed that 265 secondary schools in the state did not receive any funding at all from the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led government in 2024 Second Quarter.
The Q2 performance report revealed that each of the 265 secondary schools got what is captioned as the original budget of N175,000 in the 2024 approved budget of the state, out of which, no funds were released to the schools in the Q2.

The review of the budget performance report further showed that the State Ministry of Basic Education has under it the Ministry of Basic Education; Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board; Anambra State Library Board; Exam Development Centre; Special Education Centre Isulo; Special Education Centre Umuchu; Special Education Centre Onitsha and 265 secondary schools including Adult and Non Formal Education Agency.
The ministry also has under it the Post Primary School Service Commission (PPSSC); Post Primary School Service Commission Zonal Office Awka; Zonal Office Onitsha; Zonal Office Nnewi; Zonal Office Aguata; Zonal Office Ogidi, and Zonal Office Otuocha.
The budget performance report showed that the Anambra State Universal Education Board got the sum of N2,131,842,737 budget allocation in the state’s 2024 original budget but only N865,550 was released to the board in the 2024 Q2.
Also, the report showed that Anambra State Library Board got N1,008,145 budget allocation in the state’s original budget but only N100,000 was released to the board in the 2024 Q2 under review.
Similarly, the report showed that Exam Development Centre got a budgetary allocation of N554,479,212 in the 2024 original budget and N205,546,531 was released to the Centre, and Post Primary School Service Commission (PPSSC) got a budgetary allocation of N788,313,723 in the 2024 Fiscal Appropriation Act and N452,342,027.43 was released to the Commission.
Also, each Post Primary School Service Commission Zonal Offices in the state: in Awka, the state capital; in Onitsha, Nnewi, Aguata, Ogidi and Otuocha, got N525,000 budgetary allocation but none of the zonal offices received any funds in the Q2 of the year, according to the budget performance.
SaharaReporters had reported that the state under the leadership of Governor Soludo did not release any funds to the 265 secondary schools in the state in the First Quarter (Q1), according to the state’s 2024 Q1 budget performance report.
