Just In : ISIGUZO, not Achonu is LP candidate in Imo — NWC
The NWC of Labour Party has cleared the air on who is the authentic candidate for Labour Party in Imo state in the November 11 2023 governorship Election saying that Chief Chibutu ISIGUZO and not Sen. Achonu is the valid candidate.
The clarification was made by the National Publicity Secretary of Labour Party, Dr Abayomi Arabambi during a Channels TV program ‘Morning Rise’
Dr Abayomi said with another pronouncement of the court yesterday rejecting the request by Abure, the embattled National Chairman of LP, Alhaji Apapa remains the valid Ag. National Chairman of LP and Primaries conducted by his Agent is recognized.
He insisted that Mr Abure has a court order not to parade himself as National Chairman can not organize any Primaries.
A court had earlier given an other stopping Mr Abure from acting as National Chairman while NWC elected the Deputy National Chairman, Alhaji Apapa to act as National Chairman pending the determination of the substative suit and resolution to the matter.
Mr. Abure has gone to ask the court to strike out the other and allow lhim to continue as Chairman but yesterday the court in Abuja rejected his plea and insisted that he should not continue as Chairman.
This development has rendered the Abure faction Primaries that produced Sen. Achonu in Imo state illegal, null and void.
