The Julius Abure and Alh Farouk Umar Ibrahim – led National Working Committee of Labour party(LP) has raised an alarm over what it termed the unending ill-will press statements laced with falsehood from the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, and their potential to cause breach of peace via negative aspersions on the integrity of the LP National Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure, the country’s judiciary and the person of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun.
The LP National Working Committee (NWC) accused Ndubuaku, the NLC President, Joe Ajaero and their co – travellers of trying to plunge the party into an avoidable crisis ahead of 2027 general elections allegedly for self – serving agenda when they ought to be remorseful for working against the interest of the party’s governorship candidates in the last 2023 governorship election.
Speaking in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital through the National Publicity Secretary, Dr Abayomi Arabambi, the LP – NWC cited Lagos, Imo, Nasarawa, Cross River and Ogun as the States where the NLC allegedly supported candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) against the LP flag bearers, even as the body also accused the NLC of working for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo, Enugu, Rivers and Plateau States in 2023 against the LP governorship candidates.
Arabambi revealed that the major preoccupation of the party now is on strategizing to ease the All Progressives Congress (APC) out of power through the ballot box with Peter Obi as its presidential candidate in 2027 if Nigerians so desired and not through any illegitimate or undemocratic means.
“Our major focus is getting the All Progressives Congress, APC, out of office only through the ballot if Nigeria so desired and not through illegitimate means.
“Peter Obi will fly our party flag for the next presidential election in 2027, Governor Alex Otti will fly our ticket in Abia and Gbadebo Rhodes – Vivour, who the NLC worked against in favour of Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu in 2023 will fly Labour Party flag in Lagos in 2027,” Arabambi said.
He said it is lamentable that the NLC has abandoned its primary duty of defending the Nigerian workers and fighting for their welfare, only to take up a new and reprehensible role as the persecutor of Abure and undermining the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ahead of 2027 general elections.
He said Joe Ajaero and Professor Ndubuaku were persecuting Abure because of his unwillingness to support their military – like dictatorship and authoritarianism in the handling of the NLC affairs.
The LP Publicity Secretary noted that it is both shameful and irresponsible of the same set of people who were with Julius Abure earlier and mobilised thugs to storm the party Secretariat and attack Alhaji Lamidi Apapa – led camp in the build up to the 2023 general elections, to suddenly make a U – turn to persecute the same Abure, wondering why in their wildest consideration, the LP National Chairman should become a candidate of jail.
He said that Ndubuaku’s deliberate use of fallacious reasoning, intellectual charlatanism and bogus claims to both cast aspersions on Abure and accused the Inspector General of police of failing to prosecute Abure for alleged wrong doing, is a attestation that he has been left behind.
He said that Abure’s matters with the police have long been investigated, concluded and thrown to the dustbin of history for lack of merit, wondering where Ndubuaku and his enablers hid themselves at the time the matter was being treated by the police and thrashed afterwards.
He challenged the NLC leaders to produce valid documents affirming any crime Barr. Abure is being accused of, reminding them that the Court of Appeal in its separate judgments delivered November 13, 2024 and January this year, have affirmed the legitimacy of Nnewi Convention in Anambra State which produced Julius Abure and Farouk Umar Ibrahim as National Chairman and National Secretary of the Labour Party.
According to him, only the Supreme Court and not any of public opinion or the shenanigans of the NLC can set aside the Appeal Court’s position on Abure and his team.
The party said the Nigeria Labour Congress’ satanic commitment to removing Julius Abure and Alh Farouk Umar was borne out of their adulterated, hyphenated and dysfunctional contraption to use their Illegal National officers as tools to confront legitimate administration and set Nigerians against the path of democracy with lies and propaganda.
“Nigerians will agree conclusively with our party positions that the undemocratic agenda of these reactionary NLC operatives in their theatre of political absurdity has already been thoroughly demystified and completely ruined,” he said.
He appealed to the National Security agencies be on an alert with respect to the NLC President, Joe Ajaero and Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku considering their past deeds last year when they allegedly called for civil unrest ostensibly to plunge the country into an ungovernable state so as threaten and over awe a Legitimate government.
He said the party National Chairman is of the strong conviction that this is the time to deploy legitimate means to halt any unconstitutional convergence of anti-democratic forces, scavengers, economy predators and political buccaneers in their track.
He recalled that the NLC has many times plunged Nigeria into darkness when they allegedly switched off the national grid, lamenting that till date, the country has been grappling with national grid collapse afterwards, declaring that if there were people who should face justice, it is Ajaero, and Ndubuaku and not Abure.
The party therefore concluded that the absolute incongruity in the bland accusations of our party by Ndubuaku
as being sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) is purely a nonsensical, gibberish, toxic drivel and puerile tomfoolery.
“The fact that it(the accusation) is coming from an embittered creature and sorry soul who has suffered phantasmagoria affliction after their trouncing and defeat by the court of appeal judgement affirmation of Barr. Julius Abure and Alh Farouk Umar Ibrahim led National Working Committee is a reason it should be ignored. They are grieving over their defeat at the appeal Court,” he said.
