2023 World Consumer Rights Day: Imo CPC Set To Host First CPC Business Summit March 15.
The Imo State Consumer Protection Council (Imo CPC) under the leadership of Hon. Mrs Obioma Okafor, will on Wednesday 15th, 2023, join Consumer International to commemorate 2023 World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) with a stakeholder engagement summit tagged: Imo CPC Business Summit.
The theme for this year’s World Consumer Rights Day celebration is “Empowering Consumers Through Clean Energy Transition”.The event is scheduled to take place at Imo CPC premesis at Area P, new Owerri, opposite ISOPADEC office, Imo State.
The Agency’s Director General, Hon Mrs Obioma Okafor disclosed that His Excellency, Most Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor Imo State will be the Special Guest of Honour to declare the event open on Wednesday 15th of March, 2023 by 12noon. Mrs Okafor also stated that stakeholders in energy/power sector, manufacturers, market associations, top government officials and relevant regulatory agencies are expected to grace the occasion.
According to her, the program will provide insights on how consumers can demand adequate protection and safety from energy industry. She said celebrating the day with Imo CPC will offer the stakeholders golden opportunity to brainstorm on the diverse challenges confronting consumers rights and also proffer solutions to issues on adequate consumer protection in power sector for positive societal impact.
The DG Imo CPC, assured that experts have been lined up to educate us on the theme of the celebration at the event.To make this year’s World Consumer Rights Day a memorable one, the council is packaging a lot of activities such as awareness/road shows, factory inspection, public destruction of expired products seized by the council, one hour radio program, radio/Tv jingles and Imo CPC Business Summit.
She therefore invites all business owners, manufacturers of goods and services to come and take a stand, advertise their products and show that they are consumer friendly.
