*Ahead of the 2023 general elections, An Abuja based cleric, Pastor Gbolade Okenla, the Pastor in charge of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish Utako, has urged Christians to get involved in the politics of the country to bring the much needed transformation of Nigeria.*
In his words, Pastor Okenla who is the Rccg LP 4 Director for Politics and governance, stated thus, “political participation is a vital tool for the development of Nigeria. But often times our Christian life has been confined to personal godliness, to attending Bible study, to church activities, to attending liturgies, youth meetings among. Hence, a Christian’s involvement in politics is seen as a step into the secular world”.
“Some Christians see politics as a plague that must be avoided at all cost. They see partisan politics as a dirty game full of corruption, lies, hypocrisy, intrigues, dishonesty, betrayals, and double standards that could infect the followers of Christ”.
He reiterated that many Christians view Politics as part of the “world” that we ought not to love, they see politics as if it lies outside their primary realm of responsibilities.
*He disclosed that In Romans 13:1, 4, God through his words described people who serve in government or politics as “ministers of God”.*
He empasised that as the race for 2023 ranges, Christians, who have prepared themselves for leadership roles should should get involved in politics and willingly offer themselves as candidates for public office because Nigeria is in dire need of God fearing, honest and competent personalities that will saddle it’s political cycle.
