DON’T BE A SLAVE TO HUMAN DOCTRINE – Pastor Isaac Olutimehin
TEXT:
Colossians 2:20-22 KJV.
Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
[21] (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
[22] Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
MESSAGE:
☆☆☆ Today, some people claim to be followers of Christ, meaning they are Christians but are ignorantly the followers of the doctrines and ordinances of men.
☆☆☆ Beloved, have you ever asked yourself, those things you do or do not do; are they scriptural?
☆☆☆ Did you just inherit those doctrines and beliefs from your forefathers and you have been religiously obeying them!!!
☆☆☆ When you read Jeremiah 35:1-10, God sent prophet Jeremiah to the house of the Rechabites to change their age long beliefs of never to plant vineyard, not to build houses, they must dwell in tents.
☆☆☆ They chose to continue with the instructions of Jonadab, their grandfather, to obey his doctrines.
☆☆☆ I read a story that happened many years ago, in an army barrack of a particular country. Four soldiers were always keeping watch over a concrete slab and no one cared to find out why. A new commander came and tried to change the ways soldiers were doing certain things. He asked questions as regards why they were keeping watch over those concrete slabs but no one could give him an answer, apart from saying; “it’s our tradition”. He went into the archives to discover that the instruction was given, over 80 years ago, by another commader. The barracks wanted to build a platform then where events could be held. When the slabs were made, wild animals would come at night to destroy the slabs. The commander now assigned four soldiers to watch and protect the slabs from being destroyed by the animals. Unfortunately, the commander who gave the instruction, which was meant to last for three weeks, was transfered the second week. Commanders after commanders who came continued with “it’s our tradition”, without asking questions. This tradition lasted for 80 years before it was discovered to be an effort in futility.
☆☆☆ Something happened to me some few years ago in a particular area of Abuja, Nigeria. I had an encounter with some bike riders, popularly called “okada” riders. When I discovered that many of them, who didn’t know exactly what happened, had gathered together to fight me; I quickly entered my car and sped off. Many of them pursued after me until I was lucky enough to enter my compound and the gate was shut. I later discovered that many of them were waiting outside the gate. I then called a neighbour on phone, who understood their language, to intervene. By the time he came, only one bike man was left. When asked what he was doing infront of another man’s house, his reply was that, his colleagues asked him to keep watch. The reason why he was given that assignment he didn’t know. The whereabouts of those who gave him the assignment, he couldn’t tell. How long he would have to keep watch; he didn’t know. He now left when he was told that he would be treated as a robber and handed over to the police.
☆☆☆ Beloved, many so called believers today are believers of doctrines and beliefs rather than believers of our Lord Jesus Christ.
☆☆☆ Religion cannot save man, only faith in Christ Jesus can.
☆☆☆ Beloved, do not be a follower of religion but be a follower of Christ Jesus.
☆☆☆ Do not continue with your father’s religion because it is your family religion.
☆☆☆ Doctrines and beliefs will all fade away and perish with this world.
☆☆☆ That was the argument of Paul when he challenged the Colosians in our focal scriptures for today.
☆☆☆ The bible, which is the word of God, should remain our guide and not human beliefs and doctrines.
PRAYERS
¶¶¶ Oh God my father, I refuse to be in the bondage of doctrines and beliefs in Jesus name.
¶¶¶ Please Lord, open my spiritual eyes to see where doctrines of men have kept me bound.
¶¶¶ Give me the grace and boldness Lord to regain my freedom.
¶¶¶ Lord Jesus, please open the eyes of those who have been caged by the beliefs and doctrines of men.
¶¶¶ Father, grant those who are caged by the doctrines of men, out of fear, the boldness to free themselves in Jesus name.
¶¶¶ Lord Jesus, free me from the captivity of religion and religious beliefs in Jesus name.
¶¶¶ I receive grace and boldness to stand my ground for Jesus, my Lord and Savior.
¶¶¶ I will not mortgage my Saviour on the altar of religious beliefs in Jesus name.
¶¶¶ My father and my God, I pledge my support for you Lord; the god of mammon will not stand between me and the true God in Jesus name.
¶¶¶ Lord Jesus, against all odds, my faith in you remains unbroken. Please help me Lord.
PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS
I pray for a reader of this message today that the Lord Jesus will open your heart of understanding to see and know where you have missed it.
May the Lord deliver you from the bondage that the doctrines of men have kept you in Jesus name.
May you not be a worshipper of beliefs and doctrines of men rather than being a worshipper of the Most High God.
I decree, declare and prophesy, every chain and fetter of ignorance keeping you bound in captivity, is broken from today in Jesus name.
I decree, every age long demon assigned against your destiny shall lose its hold over your life from today in Jesus name.
I separate you from every demonic belief common among your generation in Jesus mighty name.
Any power saying that success is alien to your family is hereby silenced for life in Jesus name.
You will make a difference for good in your family and in your generation in Jesus name.
From today, you are earmarked for success and breakthrough in Jesus mighty name.
Unprecedented success is your portion in Jesus name.
