Vice Chairman, APC Presidential Campaign Council and the former only female APC Presidential Primary Election Aspirant, Barr. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye has assured Nigerians that a vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sen. Shettima is a vote for true Federalism and a restructured Nigeria.*

 

Barr. Uju Ohanenye who was recently inaugurated as the Vice Chairman APC Presidential Campaign Council alongside President Buhari who doubles as the chairman of the council made this known in Abuja while fielding questions from newsmen.

She recalled that as Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Sen. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu created 37 LCDAs in Lagos state, thereby attracting growth and development to those areas, creating opportunities for councillors and local government chairmen while directly indirectly creating jobs for over 20,000 people.

 

She restated the commitment of Asiwaju Tinubu to rebalance the responsibilities and authorities of the
different tiers of government and
collaborate with the National Assembly
and State Governments to re-enact Nigeria’s governance architecture such
that States are afforded the autonomy
and resources needed to better serve
the people.

Review the Constitutional legislative lists
to ensure that States are given greater
control over certain critical matters.
Focus areas will include, crime
prevention, prisons, stamp duties and
certain forms of taxation.

 

Embark on a review of the federation
revenue allocation system to recalibrate
the division of funds amongst the three
tiers of Government: Federal, State and
Local. More funds should be allocated to
the States and Local Governments so
that they can better address local
concerns and fulfil their expanded
constitutional obligations to the people.

This promotes stronger governance at the
state and local level, thus reducing
political congestion and competition for
resources at the federal level. The
performance of federal, state and local
governments shall improve while the
people will benefit by having more
political democracy and economic
development more closely at hand.
