SCATTER TO GATHER : Pastor Isaac Olutimehin
TEXT
_Proverbs 11:24 KJV.
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty._
*MESSAGE*
☆☆☆ This is a common verse of the bible we use often whenever we want to talk about giving.
☆☆☆ However, the Holy Spirit wants us to compare the life of the man that gives with the one who doesn’t, so we can learn something new today.
☆☆☆ Beloved, when you look at a river that flows, it may carry some rubbish but it will surely empty such into other rivers in the process of flowing.
☆☆☆ A flowing river empties its rubbish while flowing and remains always clean.
☆☆☆ A stagnant water, like a pond, on the other hand holds on to its own rubbish. It will therefore remain dirty and be smelling.
☆☆☆ Beloved, check the house of a man who doesn’t give, there you will find so many old, archaic and obsolete things which are not even useful to him.
☆☆☆ The house of the man who doesn’t give contains so many junks that will never give space for the new things to come.
☆☆☆ Such is the life of a man who doesn’t give.
☆☆☆ The bible says 👇
“There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth ….” – Proverbs 11:24.
☆☆☆ Beloved, the more you give, the more you have.
☆☆☆ The old things will surely give way for the new to come.
☆☆☆ The life of a giver will always be new and radiant.
☆☆☆ The same verse says 👇
“…and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty” – Proverbs 11:24.
☆☆☆ When you don’t give, your life will be filled with junks which will never allow new things to find its way into your life.
☆☆☆ The bible says 👇
_”Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” – Luke 6:38.
☆☆☆ Giving creates room to receive and clears a man’s life of every junk and rubbish.
☆☆☆ Beloved, givers never lack. There will always be a way for givers on the day of their needs.
☆☆☆ Let me quickly correct a wrong impression about giving.
☆☆☆ Giving doesn’t mean disposing those things that are useless to you, those junks.
☆☆☆ Those things which have overstayed in your hands are they which usually become junks.
☆☆☆ While giving, give your best, in doing this, junks won’t have a place in your life.
☆☆☆ Even God appreciates good gifts and encourages us to give our best.
☆☆☆ Give your best to receive the best from God.
_”But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully” – 2 Corinthians 9:6._
☆☆☆ We need to note as well that, the type of gift a man gives will surely determine what he gets.
☆☆☆ Give small and receive small. If you give a bad gift, same measure you will surely receive.
_”Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” – Luke 6:38._
☆☆☆ Cain had the mind to give to God but his gift was rejected because it was far below the expectation of God.
☆☆☆ The offering of Abel, his brother, was accepted because it was a good gift.
_”And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord”.
[4] “And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering”.
[5] “But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell” – Genesis 4:3-5.
☆☆☆ In giving, God won’t come down to receive our gifts.
☆☆☆ When you help your brother or your sister, you are giving to God.
☆☆☆ God even frowns at a situation where you see your brother in need and look the other way 👇
“For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink”.
[43] “I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not”.
[44] “Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?”
[45] “Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me” – Matthew 25:42-45.
☆☆☆ Beloved, the more you scatter, the more and greater are your getting.
