Ignore Abena Meeting, Akeredolu,APC will direct and constitute Tinubu Campaign Committee in Ondo State: Femi Adekanbi
The former commissioner for culture and tourism in Ondo State hon. For Adekanbi has directed party members and supporters of Tinubu in Ondo State to ignore the meeting organised by former SSG of the state Hon Ifedayo Abegunde on constituting campaign committee for Tinubu in the state.
Femi Adekanbi statement read this:
Re: Invitation to a General meeting in respect of planning and organisation of APC Presidential Election in Ondo State by Hon Abena Abegunde.
1, My attention has been drawn to a purported invitation on the above subject matter by one Chief Mukaila Musa- Ajakaiye at the instance of Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde of a meeting at his residence on Thursday, 14th July, 2022.
2, I want to make it categorically clear that the said meeting, is an affront on the Governor of the State and Leader of the Party, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who by virtue of his position is the numero uno in anything that has to do with the campaign of the candidate of our party Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to the Party.
3, That Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and indeed the APC National Secretariat has not constituted any campaign committee in any State of the Federation, neither has any appointment regarding Director General of Presidential Campaign Council for any state made. To this end, no one should lay claim to the title of a Director General.
4, That a former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Ifedayo Abegunde, was only made the Coordinator of the Presidential Primary in the Central Senatorial District, Honourable Femi Adekanmbi ( Northern Senatorial District), while Chief Nimbe Tawose was made the Coordinator of the Southern Senatorial District. He was only directed to Coordinate ( as Coordinator) Tinubu Primary election in the State in his capacity as the head of Swaga group in the State by Asiwaju Tinubu based on the recommendation of Mr Governor.
5, It is laughable and stand logic on its head that a single person would invite government appointees, State Working Committee, and candidates of the party to his house for a meeting. It is provocative, insultive and a slap in the face of the party. It is disrespectful and embarrassing to the party and Mr Governor. He does not have the authority for this and indeed nobody does except the Governor and the Chairman of the Party.
6, Till date, the candidate of the party has not constituted a campaign council. The task of constituting such rests squarely with the Governor in his capacity as leader of the party and the party leadership in the State.
7, Therefore, i urge everyone to abide by the dictate of our leader that all groups should merge its structures to form a coalition in order have to a well coordinated campaign.
8, No one should arrogate any title to himself. At the appropriate time, the Party under the able leadership of Engr Ade Adetimehin will call for a meeting of all the critical stakeholders of the party and groups to chat the way forward for the Presidential Campaign.
9, Finally, i appeal to you all not to allow anyone sow a seed of discord amongst us. We should all endeavour to work together as a team and forget our differences in other to ensure success for the party in the State come Febuary 2024
10, I sincerely believed that all issues pertaining to the Presidential election in the State will be duly addressed by the Governor and the leadership of the party very soon.
