Just In : Godswill Akpabio Speaks on stepping down for Tinubu
Godswill Akpabio, the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, has responded to allegations that he has withdrawn from the presidential race in support of his opponent, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to reports, Akpabio, the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, has dropped out of the race and thrown his support behind Tinubu.
However, in a statement released on Sunday by his Director of Media and Publicity, Sylvester Okonkwo, Akpabio called the claim “false.”
“The Godswill Akpabio Campaign Organisation (GACO) has been drawn to a news item on an online news site claiming that Senator Godswill Akpabio, our presidential prospect and the choice of the majority of Nigerians in the 2023 presidential race, has stepped down for a particular aspirant.
“Normally, we would have let this slide because we see it as the wishful thinking of some mischief makers hired by some politicians to misinform and misdirect the resolve of our aspirant’s throngs of supporters from voting for him at the party’s Special Convention for the presidential primary,” the statement read.
